A Simple Thank You

I think most of us that have been in Second Life for, oh, say more than a day?--have become disillusioned at some point. Be it a friend or lover, someone has affected us deeply enough to say, really, do I need this?? That happened to me recently. No, I won't be dragging out the pile of laundry. I bring it up only to say..

What about the other folks? What about those that affect you deeply enough to keep you here? What about those that make a difference, whether it's a publicized grid wide difference, or whether it's something only YOU know about. That thing that may seem so small to them but brings you back off the ledge? Well, I had that happen to me today.

Two people that I know have made my day a lot brighter.

Munchflower Zauis, whom I've admired since I came to Second Life (matter of fact my very first skin came from Munch <3) released some fabulous doll skins. I drool over Munch's work quite often, and while it's very affordable, I've cut my spending in Second Life to pretty much nil due to the loss of a 1st life job and the sagging SL economy. When I saw her latest, I commented on them, possibly drenching plurk with my drool, but knowing that I couldn't afford them. I logged in a bit later to find that Munch had sent me a gift.

The dollskins excel in creativity, variety and workmanship, traits found in all of Munchflower's work.

The poses I'm using are today's other "thank you".

These poses were the work of Katey Coppola of Glitterati.
She's offering these free for the month of October in support of Breast Cancer Awareness. Taken directly from her notecard:

"We would hope that you feel as strongly as we do about this cause, and tell your friends about these poses, as well as posting your photos to the Flickr group and, if you feel comfortable, dedicate your photo -- in the description, write "In memory of..." or "In celebration of...".

These poses are FREE. I will not ask you to spend even 1L on them, but if you feel that you want to donate to the campaign, please pay the poster that looks lik
e this
or send money directly to the avatar Katey Ghost."

Thank you Katey. Thank you everyone who supports this cause.

Remember this next time you get disillusioned with people you know in ANY life--for every kick in the ass, there'll always be something just around the bend that restores your faith in people, that makes sticking around, making friends, taking risks all worthwhile.

Lastly, in keeping with the request on Katey's notecard, this post and these pictures are in memory of my Mom "Mimi" who lost her battle with Inflammatory Breast Cancer.

Thanks, Mom. And I think you'd be proud today.

Pearls and Skin

A note as from a single place,
A slender tinkling fall that made
Now drops that floated on the pool
Like pearls, and now a silver blade.

Robert Frost

“Going for Water.”

I should tell you up front, I'm not a blogger. I'm not a writer at all. Sometimes I'm lucky if I can do more than wave my hands around wildly while trying to find words. However, I am going to muddle through on this blog and hope that my pretty pictures distract you from my lack of creative writing.

The new skin from Staged is really lovely. First thing I did was take a good look at collarbones, hands, checked for seams etc and all looked great from my perspective. There was a little shading on the spinal area that seems a tiny bit blotchy, but really, unless you're trying to find things wrong with it, I don't think you'll notice. The makeups are gorgeous. I think for runway type pictures these would work really well as the makeup is on the more glamorous or dramatic side than on the softer side. In the pictures above I'm wearing the Cerra Natural and you can see the cheekbones even on the natural are dramatic.

I bet you'd love to pick up the hair and jewelry I'm wearing, wouldn't you? Well you CAN'T! At least, not yet. The Forget-Me-Knot set and The "Sandy" hair in Strawberry are from Fusemelon, a new venture by Aemilia Case. They'll be available soon, so take notes!

Newness from Naive

It's kind of funny how you make really nice discoveries in Second Life™ sometimes. Naive is a store full of very cool clothing, which is enticingly affordable, too. I put together a couple of summer looks from the latest releases...

I love the vibrant colours of both the Laleeta skirt and the Luna top used in each outfit. And, of course, I had to have the Fat Pack of Luna tops with the beautiful hibiscus flowers on them!! ;-)

I jazzed them up with a bit of my own jewelry and Voila! hot summer day/night looks are all sorted! I'll definitely be back for frequent Naive fixes. :-)

I am wearing:

Clothing: Naive - Laleeta skirts in Blue and Purple, as well as Luna tops in Blue and Pink

Skin: Rockberry - Uma D Natural

Hair: Analog Dog Hair - Winter Brunette

Shoes: Lo Lo - Attitude Onyx Sandals (with the blue) and Adam n Eve - Samara Black (with the purple)

Jewelry: Puarangi Designs - Lily Boho Necklace and Earring set, as well as Blue and Purple bangle sets (not yet released)

No no no no no

First off...let me say I loveeeee Nylon Pinkney.
She makes the silliest funnest things, and I love wearing her stuff.
She is the owner of 'NO' and makes some fantastic stuff.

Really quick post today, but it's all about quality, not quantity, right?

The top I'm wearing is a single, jacket layer.
It has the white sweater, the blue print tee, and the button up shit underneath. All in one freakin layer.
Yeah, it rocks.
The jeans you catch a glimpse of are from League, which also rock my socks.
The skin is from LAQ, and the shape is from D-Skin, but is modded.
The hair is from GrittyKitty. SURLS belows.

Savoir Faire/Tacky Star

Like many of you, I started the Through the Looking Glass Hunt. Upon searching endlessly for wayy too small mirrors, I stumbled upon the lovely and talented Hybrid Ansar. She was also hunting, and as she never seems to sleep, she was farther than I was and was helping in the group IM with hints. And... shes pretty much made of awesome! Hybrid owns a great shape shop called Savoir Faire, and has proven to be a worthy shopping buddy. While shopping, I also met Hyb's friend Aura Falta who owns a cute little store, Tacky Star, with some really awesome eyes and some shapes. Being as both of these awesome chicks threatened to beat me if i PAID for anything, I've gotten freebies from them both, and decided to shamelessly plug my new great friends' creations :D

2 cute shapes from Savoir Faire!
